BAC Lightning F6 - XS921 (RAF 74 Sqn) (1:72 scale) - English Electric Lightning F6, serial number XS921, was delivered to 74 ‘Tiger’ Squadron in December 1966 and initially based at RAF Leuchars in Scotland. In 1967, XS921 and other Lightning’s of 74 Sqn made the long journey to Tengah Air Base in Singapore and in doing so became the first RAF fighter unit to make such a journey using air to air refuelling.
The deployment to Singapore, codenamed ‘Operation Hydraulic’, gave the RAF’s Far East Air Force (FEAF) a powerful supersonic fighter element in the region. This was deemed necessary in order to deter the territorial claims made by Indonesia against nearby Malaysia, a British protectorate. The show of strength proved successful and 74 Sqn departed Tengah in August 1971 with the squadron disbanding.
Its Lightning’s were taken over by 56 Sqn at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. In September 1985, while serving with 11 Sqn, Lightning XS921 was lost after developing technical problems while returning to RAF Binbrook after a training exercise but thankfully the pilot was able to make a successful ejection.

BAC TSR-2 XR219 (1:72 scale) - The Tactical Strike/Reconnaissance 2 (TSR-2) was an ill-fated Cold War strike aircraft developed by the British Aircraft Corporation (BAC) for the Royal Air Force in the early 1960s. It was designed to penetrate a well-defended forward battle area at low altitudes and very high speeds, and then attack high-value targets in the rear with close-in bomb runs and precision drops. TSR-2 included a number of advanced features that made it the highest performing aircraft of this type in the world. The prototype TSR-2, XR219 flew from Boscombe Down on 27 September 1964 and the test programme soon made good progress despite some initial problems. However, a Labour Government had taken office shortly after the TSR-2’s first flight and the writing was on the wall. XR219 was the only example to fly, the project being cancelled controversially in favour of the General Dynamics F111, a procurement that was itself later cancelled. Thankfully the ordered destruction of all the TSR-2 prototypes did not happen. XR219, along with prototypes XR221 and XR223 were lost, having been taken to Shoeburyness range in Essex and used for target practice. The other two prototypes were rescued and XR220 was placed on display at RAF Cosford’s Aerospace Museum, whilst XR222 was initially sent to the College of Aeronautics at Cranfield and is now on display at the Imperial war Museum at Duxford.

BAE Systems Harrier AV-8B (US Marines VMA-214 Black Sheep) (1:72 scale) - The Harrier is the first operational V/STOL (Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing) aircraft. By directing the engines exhaust through movable nozzles the force could be used to propel the aircraft along a runway or lift it vertically and then into a forward motion. Because of this ability to lift off vertically the Harriers began to be referred to as “jump jets”. These aircraft were continuously being refined and improved over the years with many new variants being produced.
VMA-214 was originally commissioned in early 1942 as VMF-214 the “Swashbucklers”. In August 1943 the squadron was renamed the “Black Sheep’ when it came under the command of the infamous Colonel Gregory “Pappy” Boyington. On July 9 1957 VMF-214 became VMA-214. In September 1987 the squadron moved to MCAS Yuma Arizona and is attached to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3rd MAW). In June 1989 VMA-214 retired their A-4M aircraft for the new AV-8B Harriers and in June 1993 the first AV-8B Harrier II arrived.

The MR.2 is due to be replaced by the upgraded MRA.4 in the near future, but meanwhile the current fleet of MR.2s are being repainted in the RAF"s latest overall light grey colour as depicted by the model.

Batmobile (Dark Knight Elite Version) (The Dark Knight) in Black (1:18 scale) - The Batmobile depicted in the film ‘The Dark Knight’ is a tank-like vehicle modified from a military vehicle called ‘The Tumbler’. It appears twice in the movie and the film’s production designer described it as a car boasting “Lamborghini lines combined with tank functions: an armoured riot control vehicle, complete with machine guns shooting rubber bullets and a large cannon mounted on the front.” This is the largest Batmobile ever, easily straddling a three-lane highway. Four street-ready cars were constructed, with each vehicle possessing sixty-five carbonfibre panels and costing $250, 000 to build. Two of the four cars were specialized versions. One version was the flap version, featuring hydraulics and flaps to detail the close-up shots where the vehicle propelled itself though the air. The other version was the jet version in which an actual jet engine was mounted onto the vehicle, fuelled by six propane tanks. The full-sized vehicles were driven and filmed on the streets of Chicago.
The new Hot Wheels EliteTM model reproduces with extreme precision each feature of one of the most appreciated cars by Batman fans and film goers alike!
Please note: although this is a limited edition of 5000, we have been advised by the importer that only 144 pieces will reach the UK via official channels.
