Frederick Ashton’s Marguerite and Armand was created for Fonteyn and Nureyev. Its return to the repertory brings some exciting debuts in the demanding central roles. Requiem is Kenneth MacMillan’s tribute to choreographer John Cranko. A young boy’s haunting dilemma is beautifully set to the music of Gabriel Faur. This first mixed programme of the Season shows a wonderful contrast of emotions and styles, under the baton of Barry Wordsworth, the Music Director of The Royal Ballet.
