The bet is accepted & the officers pretend to have been called away to war. As their women despair of being left alone, two strange men appear & attempt to win them over. At first the women refuse their advances, but flirtation & human nature prove powerful urges to resist. Mozart’s great opera was first performed in 1790. The libretto was written by Lorenzo Da Ponte.
