Dreamboats & Petticoats at the Playhouse Theatre Matinee performances of Dreamboats & Petticoats are on Thursdays & Saturdays. Scripted by celebrated comedy writers Laurence Marks & Maurice Gran, Dreamboats & Petticoats is a feel-good musical that celebrates the baby-boom years & toe-tapping music of the 50s & 60s. In 1961 emotions run high as a couple of young musicians, Norman & Bobby, compete to win a national song writing competition & the affections of two beautiful girls. Dreamboats & Petticoats features hit songs by Roy Orbison, The Shadows & Eddie Cochrane, among many others. Latecomers may not be admitted to a performance, & if admitted, may not be seated in the seats that have been originally allocated
