A
team of surveyors employed by Talex are constantly monitoring the positioning of speed camera sites across the UK ensuring that the location database is kept up to date. The database is transferred on to the detector through simple internet updates and these typically take just a few minutes on a dial-up connection although this is dependent upon the download speed achieved through your internet connection. It is recommended that the Talex is updated on a weekly basis in order to ensure the detector is kept as up to date as possible with new camera locations. The unit features three modes of operation selected using a slide switch on the right of the unit. DL mode is used when the unit is connected to your PC for internet downloads of the latest updates. Normal mode enables all the
functions of the Talex detector to work including congestion zone warnings school proximity warnings and accident blackspot warnings. The unit is time sensitive meaning that warnings of a school or congestion charging zone within a 200 yard proximity of the vehicle in which the unit is being used only occur during the hours of 7a.m. to 6.30p.m. Monday to Friday. In Normal mode accident blackspot areas are also provided as warnings. If the unit is set to Camera mode the Talex only warns of possible mobile camera monitoring sites fixed speed camera sites and red light camera monitoring systems. Camera warnings are provided at up to 500 yards before the camera position depending on the nature of the road along which you are driving. In addition the Talex also warns of the speed limit at fixed
camera sites providing the driver with plenty of notice that they need to slow down in order to drive safely through the detection area monitored by the camera.
