By using the Silva Nomad the user can set a desired course to a destination in the terrain. The compass saves information on the compass course & warns the user if he or she is off course. It also shows the degree to which the user is to veer to the right or left in order to keep on the correct course. At the same time as the user stores a course to a destination the correct counter course is automatically stored. This makes it easier for the user if he or she decides to return to the starting point. The Silva Nomad can also be used at night. The compass has a clear display & background lighting. It also has an in-built spirit level which means that the user can clearly see whether the compass is horizontal for the greatest possible precision. The compass which is 9 centimetres by 5.8 centimetres carries out adjustable elimination of magnetic declination. The Silva Nomad has a low battery level indicator & a lithium battery included which has an estimated life of up to 500 hours. The compass weighs 86 grams & both a neck & wristband are included.
