A positive voltage regulator that can source 1A of output current with a dropout voltage of typically 0.5V & a maximum of 1V over the entire temperature range. A quiescent current reduction circuit has been included which reduces the ground current when the differential between the input voltage & the output voltage exceeds Approx. 3V. The quiescent current with 1A of output current & an input-output differential of 5V is therefore only 3m A. Higher quiescent currents only exists when the regulator is in the dropout mode VIN
- VOUT 3V. Also designed for vehicular applications the device & all regulated circuitry is protected from reversed battery installation or double-battery jump-start scenarios. During line transients such as load dump where the input can temporarily exceed max. VIN the device will shut down to protect its internal circuits & the load. It cannot be harmed by temporary mirror-image insertion. Thermal overload & short-circuit protection is included. Specifications Output voltage 5V typical plusmn 0.15V max. Line regulation 20m V Load regulation 35m V Output impedance 35m W Quiescent current 10m A max. Output noise 150micro V rms Ripple rejection 72d B min. Long term stability 20m V1000 hrs Dropout voltage 0.5V min. Maximum input voltage 26 V Operating temperature range 0 C to 125 C
