First flown in 1971 the Lynx is one of the world s most manoeuvrable helicopters able to perform tricks & stunts such as flying upside down & backwards As such the Lynx is perfectly suited to its role with the Blue Eagles the AAC s helicopter display team Today the Army operates the Lynx as a light reconnaissance & scout helicopter with additional offensive capability thanks to its equipment of TOW anti-tank missiles In Afghanistan the Lynx is operated by Fleet Air Arm pilots & has acquitted itself well in a difficult theatre Differing from earlier variants by its BERP blades & the reverse direction of its tail rotor the AH7 variant is the final Lynx to be equipped with skids rather then a wheeled undercarriage
