Natural History Museum Ice Rink

Set against the backdrop of the Waterhouse building, the Ice Rink at the Natural History Museum is one of the most magical places to be this winter. Whether you can dance on ice like Torvill and Dean, or you skate more like Bambi, a visit to the Museum’s Ice Rink is a must this festive season.

• Each skating session lasts 50 minutes.
• There is no minimum age, but children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The Natural History Museum advise parents to use their discretion on whether very young children will enjoy the experience.
• Skates are included in the price of your ticket.
• Only ticket holders can enter the skate exchange area and Ice Rink.
• There are a imited supply of penguin skate aids, which cost £5, available on a first-come first served basis from the skate hire counter. Unfortunately skate aids cannot be booked in advance. 
• The Natural History Museum also have children’s bob skates available free of charge, these are twin bladed skates that fit over a child’s shoes. Please speak to any member of Ice Rink staff if you wish to hire a skate aid or require bob skates.
• Skate Hire is free of charge – sizes range from child size 7 (Euro 25) to Adult 15
• The Ice Rink will be open 20 minutes before the first session. For all other sessions please arrive a minimum of 40 minutes before the start of your session. Each skating session lasts 50 minutes.
• The Ice Rink is an outdoor event and operates in nearly all weather conditions. However, please bring suitable outdoor clothing whatever the weather. Ice is, of course, made from water - rain or dry there is always a risk of getting wet. In the unlikely event that the Ice Rink must close, alternative skating sessions will be offered. No refunds can be given due to bad weather.
• No Bags (except small rucksacks) are allowed on the ice rink
• There is a cloakroom for bags and coats. It costs £2 per item. All items left in the cloakroom are done so at the owner's risk.
• Skate change area is for ticket holders only. Visitors without a valid skating ticket will not be allowed in this area. Entrance to the Café Bar is free and does not require an ice skating ticket
• Skaters may use their own skates but organisers reserve the right not to allow a person to use their own skates if they decide that they are not suitable. There is no discount to the ticket price for use of your own skates
• Once tickets are booked they are only valid for the date and session booked and are 100% non-exchangeable and non-refundable.
