Lying between the Rhône & Provence at the foot of imposing Mont Ventoux, the Ventoux in southern France has been on top form over the last decade. The areas red wines have "a kind of mountain coolness & freshness" according to wine writer Andrew Jefford. In 2012 they benefitted from the best vintage conditions in France, with plentiful sunshine & well timed rains. The Perrins applied the same techniques to this red as they do to their £35+ a bottle Chteauenuf du Pape, flash heating the grapes prior to fermentation to release colour & aroma from the skins without any hint of harsh tannins. This incredibly deep & vibrant wine offers extraordinary aromas & richness of fruit. Perfect with lamb kebabs or char-grilled vegetables.
