Situated just below the southern Rhône, Costières de Nîmes has a similar climate & soil mix to Chteaneuf du Pape, but remains off many wine lovers radars. As a result the wines tend to offer outstanding value. This soft & supple red comes from a small estate growing classic Rhône varieties on sandy, pebbly soils that keep the vines well drained, ensuring plenty of rich flavour in the wine. Winemaker Thierry Walet, who has worked throughout Burgundy, the Languedoc & the USA as well as the Rhône Valley, oversaw the winemaking, de-stemming the grapes to ensure a soft, approachable style & maturing the wine for six months before bottling to allow the flavours to integrate beautifully. Spot on with lamb chops or herby cassoulet.
