The Ultra O's symmetrical rope baskets are ideal for assisted breaking devices, pulleys, swivels & shackles. They also give stable loading characteristics, as attachments can self-centre under load with minimal movement from the carabiner.

The Ultra O Screwgate could be described as the perfect aid climbing biner – it certainly performs remarkably well in the big wall environment & the I-Beam construction gives it an excellent strength to weight ratio.

Perhaps multi day ascents, sac hauling, portaledges & extreme dehydration (eek!) are not your bag, but that doesn’t mean you should turn your back on the oval biner design, far from it.  At some point all of us will need to use a pulley system, most likely in a rescue situation. Oval biners are important because they allow pulleys to sit in a correctly loaded & equalised position.  The symmetrical shape also stops them shifting under load & potentially dislodging a marginal gear placement. The locking gate adds a final element of security to the system.

• Oval for symmetry; shape allows central positioning of devices: Oval connectors are popular in rope access & tree care situations where multiple connectors, slings, ropes or even pulleys can be connected. They are equally at home in fall arrest situations or as part of a pre-rigged rescue system. The round basket shape allows any of the connection points to self-centre when weighted
  - this helps avoid the unnerving click that often happens with a more D-shaped connector. The symmetrical basket mean rotation within systems is not required as they sit comfortably either way round.
• Keylock clean nose for snag free connection: DMM's patented ' Taperlock' closing mechanism increases gate push-in & cross gate strength using a special flared profile on the nose of the carabiner, as well as allowing a snag free connection for your ropes, slings & devices.
• Captive bar option for security: Many of our connectors can be supplied cross-drilled to accommodate captive bars. This means that the lanyard or attachment cannot be removed & ensures that the direction of force applied in the event of a fall is along the major axis of the connector, giving maximum strength & holding power. The captive bars themselves are not for load bearing use.
