It has the distinct advantage of being light. Very light in fact. Given their tubular space frame technology & glass fibre body they weight in at well under 600kg. This is nothing for a car & the reason why the Westfields drive so well. Originally a personal project by Chris Smith he built his bespoke car in the garage of his home called Westfield House. The car gave more than a nod to Colin Chapman's Lotus Seven design & everyone who saw Chris's car loved it so he started building them for other people. For these Westfield experience days you'll be driving a Westfield Sport. But this session isn't just about the driving it's about trying to tame this fierce little bundle of acceleration that makes it like no other performance car out there. Get it right & you'll have the car entering & exiting the corners at the perfect speed on the perfect trajectory. & we have to admit when you do get it right it's an awesome feeling! Helping you hit the sweet spot in the Westfield will be the Lead Driving Consultant who'll be conducting the pre-drive briefing. They'll explain what driving the Westfield is like what the car is like your racing lines & what happens out on the circuit. That's the track-side theory done now it's time to head to the track & put practice in motion. Race suit & helmet on jump in to the compact cockpit of the curvy Westfield Sport harness up & get ready to feel the power. & being just inches from the ground you will definitely be feeling every burst of acceleration. Experience not one but two high-speed boats on this Wet & Wild Powerboat Adventure day in Southampton! During your first mission it'll be you at the wheel of a thrilling powerboat. A fully qualified skipper will be on hand to give you all the training you need to take a powerful Honda racing speedboat around the offshore race circuit. We're talking amazing cornering speeds getting the boat's hull out of the water flying above the waves & generally having it large on the water. & yes you'll be allowed to drive this boat like you stole it! After all that adrenaline it's time for a break in the marina cafe before you meet your next vessel
- a 450bhp Jet Viper. This is a proper racing boat that's easily the fastest craft out on the waves. It's all about harnessing that power to literally skim across the water at a rate of knots that feels pretty much close to vertical take off speed. It's so gnarly that you'll be dressed in proper jet boat racing gear for your passenger ride. You can pretty much guarantee there will be plenty of that 'wind in your hair' stuff going on along with lots of splashing from the wake the boat creates as your expert driver pulls doughnuts crash stops side slides & even spins. Of course the waterways have speed limits in the harbour areas so as you leave Southampton's Shamrock Quay marina (past the admiring glances) you'll be at a leisurely pace until you reach the open waters of the Solent. Now here's the moment your skipper will open up the throttle & give his boating beauty a real blast. Just to recap on this Wet & Wild Powerboat Adventure you will first get to have a go skippering a full-spec Honda racing powerboat (including a few runs round the buoys on the race course) before your second outing as a passenger on the impressive Jet Viper. Ride on (and even under) the waves when you go white water Hot Dogging! These inflatable kayaks take paddle sports to another level. It's an all-action water sport where you will get wet so it's not for the fainthearted but try it & we think you'll love a little bit of white water kayaking craziness. The Hot Dog. It's a lightweight but very durable inflatable boat. They're large enough for two people in a tandem configuration. You sit down on your bum inside with your legs stretched out in front of you. In your hands you'll have a one-bladed paddle. You then launch yourself down a series of white water rapids & try to make it to the end without taking a tumble. It's fast furious & filled with funny moments from start to finish. & try as you might to be co-ordinated with your hog dog colleague it just ain't happening. & that's exactly why Hot Dogging is so much fun. Take on the rapids when you try white water paddle boarding! On this more extreme version of SUP you still paddle standing up but rather than being out on the calm flat waters you'll be on the whitewater rapids. This is a thrilling version of paddle boarding that's a serious challenge. Indeed if you do happen to be a "grab 'em by the horns" type of person this rapid running white water paddleboarding experience is perfect for getting your adrenaline going. This centre in Wales is right on the River Dee which boasts some rather nice white water sections that turns the gentle form of paddle boarding into a ferocious test of balance & quite frankly guts. It might be worth us adding that you will need some physical endurance to be able to do this extreme version of SUP all day out on the whitewater but if you have previous paddling experience it's ideal. If not the half day white water paddle board session might be just the ticket. Of course you won't be straight in at the deep end & you might start off kneeling on the board in the faster flowing white waters before progressing to standing up. As you'd expect all the gear & tuition from experienced paddler boarders are included for you so with a bit of coaching & encouragement we're sure you'll soon be tackling those swirls of water. Those on the half day course will given a proper introduction to the sport so that you can begin your journey into the world of wild waters on your paddle board with the essential safety procedures covered too. On the full day white water SUP session you will be coached to run rapids effectively. You'll be shown how to develop footwork posture & paddle skills with the intention of progressing quickly as your confidence builds whilst you're out there. All whitewater paddle boarding courses are run by BCU (British Canoe Union) certified instructors.
