Samlesbury Hall Gatehouse Break
Stay in Samlesbury Hall's lovely lodge! This little gatehouse sitting pretty at the entrance to this historic medieval manor can be your cosy home for one or two nights with these midweek gatehouse breaks for two people. With its beautifully patterned black and white timber exterior Samlesbury Hall is really distinctive. Run by a charitable trust the house and gardens are open to visitors all year round for free and your lodge sits on the edge of the estate giving you access to the house during opening hours and the grounds. The Great Hall with an early 16th century fireplace is a highlight as is the Victorian kitchen and schoolroom whilst the Timeline Room is thoroughly fascinating. You'll be able to visit all this during your gatehouse stay and there often events and activities to take
part in too. Indeed we highly recommend joining a guided tour where you'll hear all about Samlesbury's history which included everything from family in-fighting and the Civil War to Luddites and ghosts called Dorothy. After that take time to explore the grounds with the courtyard fountain the Mayflower play area the Bee Centre the mini golf and animal farm. As you're on your holidays you won't want to be doing much cooking so it's the perfect excuse to try the delicious food on offer at breakfast and lunch in the Hall's award-winning restaurant. You can also relax in the coffee lounge and purchase some sweet treats at Dotty's Wafflery. There are also lots of fine eateries in Samlesbury village itself. Last but not least make sure you visit the gift shop so you can buy a memento of your
stay at Samlesbury Hall. Everything you need to enjoy a one or two-night stay is included.
