Launch yourself off on one of these two-wheeled wonders when you go on a Segway blast! These best-value deals give you a weekday taster of what it's like to propel yourself on tracks & trails onboard these clever little personal transporters. We have to say before actually riding one for ourselves we thought these Segways looked a little well geeky. But once you actually hop aboard one for yourself & give them a spin you'll have to admit they are really good fun & you'll have an absolute blast. Segways are also incredibly easy to control & a lot more stable than you imagine
- & that's all down to the fact that despite only having two wheels they are equipped with big fat tyres & all controlled by clever onboard wizardry. To be honest we're not sure how these glorious gadgets actually work but one thing's for sure they are not just glorified electric bikes or scooters as the technology is a lot more advanced & subtle. It's all about gyros & servos but there's no need to actually understand the science behind it
- just get ready for blast off on your Segway! Before your tour starts your guide & leader will talk you through the basics of how to control the machines & run through a safety briefing with you. A little bit of a practice session (often in a coned area near to the meeting point for your tour) to get used to how it feels & you'll be off. All the terrain around the venues varies but you'll be heading up hills down dales & whizzing along tracks & trails on your specially adapted x 2 off roading Segway. Your Segway blast experience will last 30 minutes giving you plenty of time to have a good old bomb around on the x 2 which will be 'yours' for the duration of the tour. We think these off peak Segway sessions offer a fabulous way for all novice Segway-ers to have an introduction to riding on these innovative electric-powered transporters. Get set get ready & blast off on your funky Segway at your choice of location from a selection across the UK.

We could waffle on about the physics of how they actually work but let's leave the science & just go Segwaying instead! So what does a day out spent on a Segway involve? Well first up you will be welcomed at the Events Pod by the Segway staff. As it's probably the first time you'll have ridden on one of these machines there's a safety briefing & initiation session. In a cordoned off area you'll be shown how to ride your very own Segway using the handlebar controls. Using the ' Leansteer' method you'll find they are highly manoeuvrable & you can even turn them on their own axis to go spinning round & round on the spot. All experiences use the x 2 Segway which is a purpose-built model designed to be super-rugged & robust. Not only are the transporters especially equipped for off roading you will be too as all operators supply helmet knee & elbow pads on the day for each budding Segway pilot Once everyone is feeling at ease you will head out on your trek. Depending on where you choose for your day out you could be Segwaying along the grounds of magnificent country houses over the rolling hills & dips of the countryside whizzing through dense forest trails or around tranquil lakes. & there are unique locations too. It all goes very Land of the Rising Sun on this Nissan GTR driving day with a car that gives the prestige marques a serious run for their money
- at less than half the price! That's not to say the Nissan is cheap it'll still set you back 75 000 of your finest pounds... During this day of high speed driving you'll discover that the GT-R from Nissan is the 'young buck' of the supercar world. Actually let's be blunt about it. Many driving snobs think the car lacks class & style. OK it's not got the sensuousness of an Italian stallion but despite being less powerful & heavier it is faster on acceleration with 0-60mph in just 2.7seconds. So how does the Nissan do it? Well there's the twin turbocharged engine & the carbon ceramic brakes as standard. Then there's the double clutch (one controlling the even gears & one controlling the odd gears) making gear changes faster smoother & slicker along with the paddle shift. Add to that all wheel drive technology that monitors trac...

Product Description

Fulfil your electric dreams with these neon art classes! This neon design workshop in Wakefield is the only place in the country were you can learn how to make neon signs & our two hour taster session will see you learning all about illumination through electric fields & even making a neon light to take home with you.

Once upon a time neon lighting was everywhere; from the sign in the window of your local cab office to the latest artist installation by Tracey Emin. With the emergence of LED lighting the commercial use of neon lighting might have started to fade but now it basks in the glowing glory of retro cool with neon sculptures & signs being used in everything from pop videos & chic hotels to very cool & collectible pieces of art.

On these workshops you will be learning from a duo of highly skilled & experienced neon shapers & creators. Watch in awe as a design drawn on paper comes to life as glass tubing is cut & then heated & bent into the required shape during the most meticulous part of the whole process before fusing electrodes to the end.

Then comes the magical bit to neon art. The colours. You’ll discover that different coloured neon lights are created using different noble gases phosfors & coloured glasses. For example a bright red glow comes from filling the tube with neon gas violet is from argon & electric blue is created by mixing argon with mercury.

But how do these gases get into that freshly made neon sign? Well that’s where the mystical Electron Bombarder machine comes in. It might sound like something from a Stanley Kubrick film but this gadget pumps the life into the neon art with helium first being used to clean the tube before the gas corresponding to the required colour goes in.

The final touch is the high voltage transformer. Once plugged in the neon design lights up with that inimitable glow that only neon signs can give you
- & they last for around 50 000 hours! After observing the demonstration you get to have a little go at the art of making neons for yourself. & the great thing about this workshop is that after making your neon you then take home the results!
