Enjoy a unique waterborne adventure when you go paddleboarding or kayaking in Hampshire! Setting off from Keyhaven's marina you'll paddle along over to Hurst Castle the military coastal fortress that's steeped in history. We are offering one-way trips (taking the ferry back) in the day as well as round-trip moonlight paddles. Hurst Castle first built by Henry VIII is an amazing place to visit. The original Keep which dates back to the Tudor times boasts some of the best views in Hampshire as you gaze over the Needles Passage towards the Isle of Wight. Then there are the Victorian red-brick battery additions & the quirky-looking lighthouses on the shingle spit. Hurst was decommissioned in 1956 & was taken over by English Heritage & Hurst Marine to ensure the upkeep of this fascinating site so we can all visit it for many years to come. Just one thing you can't get to it by car because it's perched right on the shingle spit jutting out into the sea. So that's where the paddle sports come in! You will be kayaking or stand up paddleboarding from the marina at Keyhaven on the waterways that take you to this impressive military defence. If you book on for a daytime adventure in this Hampshire haven you paddle to across in a guided group & then spent time exploring the castle. Your bags will be there on arrival at Hurst so you can get changed into dry clothes & be comfortable for your visit. Entry tickets are included as is a light lunch at Hurst's cafe which serves a tempting selection of sandwiches soups ploughmans toasties & cakes. You don't have to worry about paddling back as you'll enjoy a relaxed return journey back to Keyhaven through the salt marches onboard the Hurst Castle ferry. For those of you who are up for the ultimate paddle sports adventure in Hampshire the moonlight stand up paddleboarding experience is for you. You'll set off from Keyhaven at sunset (around 9pm) & paddle through the winding salt marshes with your guide to Hurst Castle & then return under the light of the stars in the sky. This has got to be the most novel way to visit Hurst Castle! If you have friends or family who won't be joining you on your paddle board or kayaking fun day in Hampshire they can either get the ferry from Keyhaven & join you at Hurst Castle or even set off on foot from Milford on Sea or Keyhaven to conquer the two-mile walk along the shingle spit shoreline. Paddleboarding in Devon with a difference! These paddleboard adventures are part of the 'wine in the wild' programme at Kenton Park Estate vineyard & it combines a paddle out on the River Exe on a st&-up paddleboard with wine tasting & food. What could possibly be more fun than a spot of paddleboarding in a lovely part of Devon accompanied with wine & a BBQ? Ben is the vineyard & estate manager at Kenton Park & it'll be him or one of his team who'll be hosting these rather unusual paddleboard experiences - & it's wine & cider from the Kenton Estate you'll be tasting. Not far from Exminster in Devon is Kenton Park at the foothills of Haldon Forest with far-reaching views towards Mamhead Forest. It's a family-owned estate with 10 acres of vines including Pinot Noir & Bacchus which produces award-winning wines such as The Motley Cru & Gun Dog Escape sparkling wines. The grapes aren't the only residents at Kenton. There are also black-nose Valais sheep Tamworth pigs pygmy goats & ever-faithful Pointer dogs - quite a menagerie of animals but Ben & team wouldn't have it any other way. They're also rather fond of a bit of adventure which is why they came up with this twist on what you'd expect of your usual paddleboarding experience in Devon. In true 'wine in the wild' style you will be taken in the estate Land Rover to the paddleboard launch site at Starcross on the River Exe. As you take a gentle paddle along estuary towards Dawlish Warren there's time to stop off at the River Exe Cafe a floating barge. Once you arrive at the beach it's all ashore for the BBQ with burgers & kebabs from the neighbouring farm shop pasta cheeses crackers & fresh fruit. Afterwards there's time to chill out or explore Dawlish Warren beaches & dunes. Keep an eye on the estuary as you might get lucky a spot a seal. Then as the sun starts to go down it's time to get back on the boards & paddle back to Starcross for your return to the estate. If you're looking for paddleboarding in Devon we think this 'wine in the wild' adventure combining paddling with a BBQ & wine tasting all hosted by the people that make the wines is a fun & tasty trip out. ...
