Go big on the blades with this urban axe throwing experience! In the hidden depths of Hertfordshire lies an outdoor activity centre. Here you'll find a corner dedicated to throwing things at targets. This all means that you will be trying your hand at double headed axe Tomahawk & knife throwing. Axe throwing at this friendly family-run centre between Ware & Stevenage in Hertfordshire really caught our eye because of the variety of weaponry on offer. After all its not every day you get to hurl heavy axes & even knives at wooden blocks is it? Tomahawk axes are fairly small & light meaning they are a good choice for most people. It still takes a considerably amount of skill to be able to plant one square on in the wood with the satisfying thud but one thing's for sure it's great fun trying! Then there's the Swedish double headed throwing axe. Originally used in North America as forest axes these are specially modified versions that are perfectly weighted & sized for competi... ...

Did you know you can go axe throwing near Calverton in north Nottingham? If you thought chucking hand axes into big chunks of wood was only for lumberjacks think again. This session held in the lovely Lime Woods will teach you how to hold & throw an axe. & once you've done it once you'll want to do it over & over again! Back in the day Native American Indians came up with the Tomahawk the sort of axe you'll be throwing. It was a heavy h&-held axe that was used both as a weapon & for every day tasks such as chopping cutting & hunting. Now whilst that all sounds a little bit Captain Caveman think about the Middle Ages. This is an age when brave warriors were armed with axes as primary weapons in fierce battles. & who knows axes could very well have been used in this corner of north Nottingham? The preferred method for lobbing the axes for your typical warrior was an overhand throw of said axe. That makes the axe rotate as it flies through the air to then land with a thud head side up into your target which might just happen to be the skull of your pesky enemy. Thankfully there's nothing gruesome about today's axe throwing sessions at this centre near Calverton. The team here has sorted some nice tree trunks as targets & the axes used are specifically manufactured to be used in the sport of axe throwing. The method of throwing the axe hasn't changed though! You will be throwing modern Tomahawk-style axes & you'll need to know how to pick them up & the stance to adopt. You'll learn all about the arm-swinging action to take to send your axe into the air heading deftly towards the target. You might be a bit nervous about it all at first but we have to say it's an amazing feeling to lob an swirling axe into the air. If you thought axes were only used for chopping up firewood & things like that these days we think you will love discovering the inner warrior in you as you learn all about axe throwing in north Nottingham. & for even more fun why not book onto the triple medley to add archery & laser clays into the mix? ...

Try axe throwing in Warwick at this fun-filled outdoor centre! Located in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside this shooting ground is home to a whole load of activities including chucking axes into huge chunks of wood
- & it's brilliant! These days not many of us regularly use axes for things like chopping firewood (we just turn the thermostat up a bit!) so handling an axe is quite a thing. They are naturally hefty tools so on this axe throwing session the Warwickshire team of instructors will start you off with lighter training axes. These all-metal h&-held trainer axes have multiple edges to them so in theory they are easier to get to stick in the wood. Having said that there's still quite a knack to throwing these light axes so your instructor will show you how to stand how to pick & hold the axe & then how to draw your arm up & release the axe. At the start of these axe throwing sessions in Warwick you'll be at about 3 metres from the targets. That allows y...

Axe Throwing In Yorkshire

Mountain man (or woman) alert - it's axe throwing in Yorkshire time! If you've ever fancied throwing a tomahawk into a massive lump of wood in that kind of Neanderthal way this is the perfect experience for you available at two locations around Yorkshire. You will be literally burying the hatchet on this outdoor experience as you're shown how to handle and throw a tomahawk into tree stump targets. The first thing most people ask is 'is it dangerous?' and the honest answer is yes these are proper metal and wood tomahawks not plastic play things. Which is why tomahawk throwing is a controlled activity taking place in a controlled environment. But are the axes you throw heavy? Well yes they are quite heavy but they are weighted in such a way that they are easier to throw so you don't need to
be the size of a Canadian lumberjack to be able to lob one. This Yorkshire operator reckons kids as young as 12 years old can take part - and targets can always be moved and adapted if necessary. So how do you throw an axe? As you'd imagine it's all about stance and style. An overhand throw is the way to go. This Yorkshire team will show you how to throw your axe safely starting with the 'handshake' grip on the hatchet handle holding it at the side of your body before lifting it up and behind your head to then bend your elbow and release forwards. What's quite impressive is the way the axe spins through the air. With any luck you'll be hearing the distinct 'thud' sound as the head sticks fast into the grains of the wood. Success! You're now a fully fledged axe-thrower. What then follows is
a session of challenges and games (burst the balloon the double-header throw and so on) before a final competition to set the unlucky lobbers from the axe throwing aces. If you're looking for an outdoor activity with a difference axe throwing in Yorkshire has to be a great choice. Tactical fairly physical and immensely satisfying when you get a direct hit tomahawking is a real treat!
