- & you can have a taste of that if you want! Setting off from Shamrock Quay you'll cruise gently down the River Itchen & then out into Southampton Water. Then the real fun begins as the throttle is opened up & you'll feel the incredible surge of speed of this powerful vessel as you skim over the sea. These waters remain sheltered in most weather conditions so even on a blustery day the sea will be very moderate & friendly for beginners. Then you have the option of heading out into the wider waters of the Solent where the wind & waves may be stronger & where you can try the offshore racing circuit. With more space for faster runs you can ask the driver (often a current or past racer) to show you just what these fabulous machines can do. It's a pretty idyllic spot & you're invited to join in & help out for a few hours. There's always something going on at the farm. Rosie & sister Vera the Shetland Sheep love meeting humans especially if there's a chance they might wangle a Rich Tea biccie out of you. Lotto & Orca the miniature Shetland Ponies look like butter wouldn't melt but they can be a mischievous pair. Then there's Betty & Wilbur the Kune Kune pigs. Native to New Zealand these little domestic piggies are proper hairy. They're like no other pig you'll have ever seen. These two love nothing better than to be out in the paddock eating dock leaves & nettles

These lessons take place in a purpose-built adventure sports centre in Roker where specialist fencing instructors will be on hand to show you the basics of this most chivalrous of sports. Fencing is an excellent work out for both mind & body. An intense fencing match can burn up to 400 calories & gives you core strength muscle training & a masterclass in balance coordination & even tactical thinking. It's all about having the moves to outwit your opponent & managing your concentration & focus. These taster lessons are designed to give you an insight in the the world of fencing. To master it takes a lifetime & there are lots of rules & regulations to learn in competitive fencing but these sessions offer you the chance to 'have a go' & get a feel for what facing your opponent feels like. There are three different types of fencing weapon namely the foil the sabre & the epee. All come in both adult & smaller sizes for mini fencers (this Sunderland school accepts those from aged six upwards) & in left or right-handed versions too. The protective gear you need to fence is also included as part of your lesson
