Take time out for a day of traditional Thames river fishing! Far from the hustle & bustle of city life you'll find the ultimate in tranquility in these private fishing experiences on the Thames in Berkshire. Your host will be expert angler Steve Roberts who knows these waters well. In fact as a six year old boy he caught his first fish from the Thames. It's still his favourite place to go fishing in particular the weir pools at Pangbourne. What makes these Thames fishing experiences so unique is that they are in homage to the Thames Professional fishermen of years gone by who took their gentleman anglers fishing. Everything is authentic right down to the split cane rods & centrepin reels Steve favours. You'll even be sat on a traditional wicker seat basket too in the very punt owned by the previous 'last Thames Professional' fisherman. Steve is a superb host. He certainly knows his stuff & is an Angling Trust qualified fishing coach & associate member of the Game Angling Instructors Association. He's a friendly & softly-spoken chap who loves nothing more than to show you the delights of 'old school' fishing using equipment that could be up to 100 years old which 'still works as well as it's always done' as Steve will show you. There are some great fishing places on this part of the Thames. Steve will take you to a part only accessible by boat & secluded by picturesque islands. He'll row you into a private weir pool & using over 30 years of local knowledge have you fishing for the chub pike perch & roach that abound there. With a skilled guide you'll fish the deeps & shallows the rushing streams & the quiet corners your boatman knows so well. As you'll be spending all day fishing the Thames with Steve lunch is included. & it's a 'jolly good lunch' as Steve would say. Made with produce from his own kitchen garden you'll tuck into pork pies cheeses cured meats sandwiches & pickles in the fishing punt under the shade of the overhanging willow trees. If this Thames river fishing day sounds idyllic that's because it is. As soon as you're out on the boat time somehow seems to slow down with Steve at the oars relax with Steve's calm & patient manner which is the perfect atmosphere for getting you in a laid back fishing mood! ...

Product Description

High-flying lunches & teas are on the menu when you go heli dining in Sussex! Fancy arriving for your restaurant reservation at a luxury country house hotel by helicopter? That’s exactly what these deluxe dining packages are offering.

Return travel from Shoreham Airport in West Sussex to the hotel where you’ll be having lunch or afternoon tea is indeed by helicopter. A private helicopter charter in fact. These heli dining experiences certainly offer the most indulgent way to arrive. Forget calling a taxi you’ve got ‘chauffeur-driven’ helicopter transfers booked in. & for an extra touch why not book the Champagne fights where a glass of bubbly will be served before your outward flight?

We are currently offering two very well-known Sussex country house hotels for these heli dining trips namely the Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa or South Lodge hotel.  What's more your helicopter will touch down on the grounds of the venue of your choice!

If your helicopter flight path takes your north to South Lodge you’ll be taking lunch or tea in the Camellia restaurant (or perhaps outside on the terrace on a sunny day) of this magnificent country house near Horsham. Right on the edge of the High Weald & with views across to the South Downs this is a beautiful place with ivy growing around the gable windows & superb formal gardens. Inside the wood-panelled walls large open fire places & country fabrics make South Lodge a very serene place for a spot of luncheon or afternoon teas.

A take off in a westerly direction from Shoreham Airport will see you head to the coast near Littlehampton for your lunch or afternoon tea at the Bailiffscourt Hotel. Hidden within 30 acres of countryside Bailiffscourt is a hotel made up of the main medieval-style manor house & a collection of cottages. There’s even a pleasant walkway that leads down to the shingle Climping Beach. Inside it’s heavy wall tapestries & mullioned windows with warm hues all around as you take your seat in the restaurant.

Once you’ve finished your meal it’s back out to be welcomed back on board your helicopter by your pilot for your return transfer back to Shoreham. & with such a glamorous mode of transport you’re sure to get heads turning. Is it a VIP? Is it a celebrity? No it’s just little old you enjoying the wonderful indulgence of private heli dining at Sussex’s finest country house hotels!
