Can you cut it in the grass kart? These funky off road go karts are great to drive on the green stuff. You’re sure to be grappling like mad with the steering on this brilliant grass karting track in Fordsham.

Designed & built in the UK the Gemini Dominator kart is a right little pocket of punchiness. With a really low centre of gravity but impressive ground clearance at the same time they handle really well on this Cheshire off road karting circuit. They are also really easy to drive too
- it’s just a case of rev & go
- so those as young as 12 can drive them making this a superb choice for families & small groups alike.

Of course we have to admit that the Gemini does look like a roll cage on wheels but that’s what makes it so agile. That space-frame chassis is tough but lightweight & the lack of body panels helps keep the overall weight down & the fun factor up. Yes you’ll feel pretty exposed in the completely open cockpit but bouncing along in your off road go kart is all par for the course with these sort of buggies.

As for build extras on the Gemini? Well if you’re lucky you might get mud guards. But we think kicking up the turf & soil is all part of grass karting. Don’t go expecting anything fancy like ABS power steering or comforts like a windscreen
- this is (excuse the pun) grass roots go karting at its best.

After being shown the Dominator’s controls you’ll be out there on your own on the track. That’s because these Geminis are single seater so there’s no room for anyone to hitch a ride. It’s up to you to go out there & go for it. Those extra knobbly tyres on the buggy will do you proud as you swing into & out of the corners take flight over the bumps & accelerate off down the straight.

It’s pretty full-on piloting an off road kart like the Gemini so experiences are run with a maximum of three karts on the track at any one time. You’ll be taking your madcap buggy out for 10 laps of the four-acre circuit filled with drifting bends chicanes lumps & bumps.

Rocking the racing Rebel buggies in Cheshire! Hunt down chase & overtake other Rebel buggy drivers on the track at this outdoor venue near Frodsham in Cheshire. Taste all the thrills of off road racing in a right little Rebel.

This purpose-built gravel & dirt stage is the only track in the country where you can race in the impressive 931cc WA Rebel buggy. These Walker-Adams built Rebels certainly pack a punch. They’re side-by-side racers with Cobra bucket seats full racing harness & apart from the 931cc engine right behind your head nothing else!

Quite simply it’s pared-down buggying at its best. Instead of actual doors there's just a little bit of netting. & forget any hint of windscreen or roof it’s just a metal roll-cage all round.

What’s more you won’t be on the track on your own. As we mentioned you will properly race against each other with up to four Rebel buggies out on the track at once. You get a staggered start & the aim of the game is to close down & overtake other drivers.

Remember though it’s not who crosses the finish line first that counts
- it’s all down to your individual lap times. These are measured by computer-controlled timing equipment so you’ll be able to track your position throughout the event. Which one of you will be crowned Cheshire’s Rebel Buggy champ?

We have to say it’s actually pretty rare that you are actively encouraged to race & overtake so these experiences to drive Rebel Buggies in Cheshire definitely get the thumbs up.

Off Road In Sherwood Forest

4x4 How good is this 4x4 Sherwood Forest experience? Well if Robin Hood was still around he so would have ditched the horse for a Land Rover and we at Into the Blue think he would have signed up for this superb 4x4 off-roading session just north of Nottingham in his native Sherwood Forest. If you're not in the area you can still find a 4x4 driving experience near to you by checking out our main off road section.Quite simply the terrain for this 4x4 session in Sherwood Forest is impressive - surrounded by pine trees the tracks weave in and out of the forest just as you'd expect they would for any intrepid off roader. But before you take to the wheel all drivers are given a safety briefing (and a cup of tea or coffee of course!). Your instructor is with you throughout your experience and the
session starts with a demonstration of driving technique by the instructor. Then it's your turn to step behind the wheel. Using a 4x4 such as the celebrated Land Rover Defender for it's true purpose (one that doesn't involve taking the kids to school or posing in Nottingham city centre) it's a definite test of your off roading skill and concentration - it really is totally different driving a normal car with things like high and low gears and differentials all going on and the sort of terrain and obstacles you can conquer is all completely mind blowing and an adrenaline rush all at low speeds. With the fully qualified (and very patient) instructor in the passenger seat at all times you will be guided through country paths with water pools steep inclines bumps rollers and ruts in your off
roader. As you gain confidence Nottingham's most famous forest awaits - complete with fallen tree trunks to drive over and even 'Dave's dodgy woodland trail' to negotiate - mind those tree stumps that could put you somewhat off course! Finally after your 4x4 experience out in the wilds of the forest of Sherwood it's back to base with the manmade technical park. Here you'll negotiate some of the deepest water and steepest drops and climbs. One minute all you can see is sky seconds later you feel like you're nose diving into a lake!
