About the PK61 Coffee table Although Poul Kjærholm is mainly known for his chairs & sofas, he also designed various tables. The PK61 coffee table has a minimalistic design but is still very different & stands out because of its interesting details. The table legs are not positioned in the coners but slightly to the side. This gives an interesting impression of asymmetry although the table is completely symmetrical. The PK61 coffee table is not attached to the base with screws but simply rests on the frame construction. Goes well with the designer's PK31 sofa. History of the PK61 Coffee table Poul Kjærholm had a philosophy about using gravity to hold furniture pieces together which this table is a perfect example of. It also shows that a true minimalist only uses screws were absolutely necessary. The table was designed in 1956 & is as modern today as back then.
