- stout bamboo canes are ideal as they blend in with the stems. Keep an eye out for lily beetles which can quickly defoliate your plants. Plant in fertile, moist & well-drained soil 20cn (8in) deep

Mulch over winter to protect the bulbs from extreme cold, or if your ground lays wet, you may want to consider lifting & storing the bulbs. Keep well-watered when in growth & give a high-potassium liquid fertiliser every 2 weeks from early spring until 6 weeks after flowering. Leave the stems & foliage until they turn brown in autumn.
