Patio Apple Tree Summerred 5L Pot
Patio 'Summerred' has been specially grown to be the perfect size for growing in a pot on your patio or balcony, and although it's small in stature, it will still produce an impressive crop of tasty apples, not to mention beautiful pink blossom in April and May.Eaten fresh and raw, or used in cooking to make delicious desserts, this juicy apple has well balanced sweetness and acidity and lovely white flesh which has a hint of strawberry to its flavour. Producing large red dessert apples, 'Summerred' is an early season apple, so you can begin to pick the fabulous fruit as early as mid-August!.By expertly grafting to the M9 rootstock 20-30cm above soil level, we've been able to further restrict the already dwarfing habit to produce a wonderful yet productive patio tree. is self-sterile, so it will need a pollination partner - another apple in a nearby garden, if not your own!Supplied as an established tree grown on dwarfing M9 rootstock, 90-110 cm (3-3 ft) tall in an 18 cm pot, growing to a height and spread of 1.5 m (5 ft).CareApply a slow-release fertiliser such as blood, fish and bone, in early spring, and mulch to retain moisture.Water regularly, and don't let the soil dry out if planted in pots.Established trees don't require radical pruning - just take off any diseased, dying and damaged branches in late winter.
