Triple-bill of musical dramas. In ' Stomp the Yard' (2007), DJ Williams (Columbus Short) is a 19-year-old growing up in Los Angeles. While he is a good kid & a gifted street dancer, he runs with a dangerous crowd, & one night an underground dance competition turns into a brawl & DJ ends up in jail. DJ's younger brother has already died a violent death, & his mother, hoping to put him back on the straight & narrow, sends DJ off to Truth University, a historically African-American college in Atlanta. He hasn't been in college for a day before he's entranced by the lovely April (Meagan Good). Working as a gardener to pay the bills, DJ doesn't fit in with the wealthier students around campus, but one thing does catch his attention
- the rival fraternity competition known as 'stepping'. With April's help, DJ learns about the legacy & heritage behind the fraternities & decides to join up. Now part of an official step group, DJ must balance rehearsals, work, & school, while at the same time winning the heart of the girl of his dreams. In ' Honey' (2003), Jessica Alba stars as Honey Daniels, an ordinary girl who works in her local record store & teaches dance classes at the community centre. At the weekends she goes dancing at the nightclubs downtown, where she meets Michael Ellis (David Moscow), a music video producer who gives her the chance to work for him as a choreographer
- her dream job. But it soon materialises that he has his own agenda, which Honey is unwilling to comply with. Guest stars include Missy Elliott, Jay-Z & Tweet as themselves. In ' Step Up' (2006), Channing Tatum stars as Tyler Gage, a rough street kid with raw talent. When Tyler finds himself doing community service at a school for the performing arts, he meets Nora (Jenna Dewan), a beautiful & privileged classically-trained dancer who's searching for a temporary replacement for her injured dance partner. Spying Tyler's smooth moves, Nora decides to take a chance on him. But as they begin training, tension builds, tempers flare & the differences in their backgrounds come to the fore. Will Tyler let these difficulties get in the way of his dreams?
