Jean Paul Gaultier, a French haute couture & prt-a-porter fashion designer, never received formal training as a designer; he instead started sending sketches to famous couture stylists form an early age. His talent was scouted by Pierre Cardin after he was impressed with his talent; he was hired as an assistant in 1970. Following this he worked alongside Jacques Esterel in 1971 & Jean Patou later that year, then returning to manage the Pierre Cardain boutique in Manila for a year in 1974.
