Maqui berries (pronounced "mah-key") are berries that grow on the "maqui tree", also known as Aristotelia chilensis, that is part of the Elaeocarpaceae family that grows in Chile & Argentina. The maqui berry fruit, which is harvested as food, is 4–6 mm in diameter. It contains 4-8 angular seeds. Maqui Berry is the new craze in superfruits only just recently making its mark on the nutritional supplement seen.
