To show solidarity with Britains mourning period, after the tragic sinking of the passenger liner Titanic & the subsequent loss of 1513 passengers on board, in 1912 Steiff created just 494 black mohair bears to remember those who had passed away. This was one of Steiffs first black bears & it sold out rapidly. 100 years later, in 2012 to commemorate the centenary that has passed since that sad night, Steiff have now brought us a new black mohair bear in memory of Titanic. He is made from a finest short-pile black mohair, with pale felt paw pads & wide amber pupil eyes. His eyes are backed with red felt as the original bears of 1912 were. This is the famous & defining characteristic of a Titanic morning bear, he is 5-way jointed with a wobble jointed head & has a growler. This is a limited edition bear of only 1, 912 pieces worldwide. Each piece comes in a Steiff gift box with a numbered certificate of authencity.
