It was built by Harland & Wolff in Belfast & offered its passengers every possible comfort. This most luxurious liner, considered unsinkable at the time, measured 270 m in length & 28 m in width with a maximum speed of 24 knots. On the evening of April 14.1912, the Titanic collided with an iceberg that had suddenly appeared out of nowhere. In the resulting panic it was impossible to abandon ship in an orderly & organised manner. Within 3 hours this giant liner sank, taking 1500 passengers down with it.
