The Moorish Idol is a small tropical fish of about twenty centimeters, recognizable by the wide black & white bands stained with yellow that adorn its flanks, but also by the long filament that follows its dorsal fin extension. The latter lives in the tropical Indo-Pacific zone from the Red Sea to Mexico. You should know that in Polynesia the Moorish Idol is revered & therefore automatically returned to the water when it is idvertently fished.
