The Komodo Dragon is the largest living species of lizard, with an average length of 2 to 3 meters & a mass of around 70 kg. It can be found in the islands of Komodo, Rinca, Florès, Gili Motang & Gili Dasami in central Indonesia. It is dark green, gray or black in color, which allows it to blend into its environment & discreetly approach its prey to surprise them. This carnivore feeds mainly on carrion but can kill prey. The bite of the Komodo Dragon is poisonous, the bacteria present on their teeth & their saliva are very effective in obtaining food. A Komodo Dragon lives generally around 20 years.
