In the green fields we can see young lambs & calfs, brightly-coloured flowers & the leaves are just bursting bud on the overhanging trees. in Summer Thomas & Percy are helping out at a summer fair, the sun is high in a cloudless sky, & buttercups line the railway tracks. In the Autumn, Thomas & Charlie chug through a rural scene where the trees have turned to golden brown, the fields are no longer green & youngsters play in the richly covered leaves scattered on the ground. We even have a little girl & her Mum with baskets of apples, perhaps they are off to a harvest festival? & finally we have Winter, where Thomas is steaming his way through a very snowy landscape, watching as the children going sledging or build a snowman. All 4 scenes are joined in the middle by a jolly image of The Fat Controller, & a "wheel" design showing which months fall into each seasons. What a great way to start to teach children about the changing of the seasons & the months of the year.
