Start off in a seed tray in a cold frame or indoors & plant out in borders. Fill a seed tray with good free-draining damp seed compost. Sow seed on the surface of the compost & cover with a very fine sprinkling of dry vermiculite or finely sieved compost. Place seed & tray inside a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag & keep at around 15-20C until the seeds germinate in about 7-21 days. Do not exclude light as this helps germination.

When seeds are large enough to handle transplant individually into 7.5cm pots or multi-cell trays. Plant out in autumn displays about 30cm apart.
