The flowers are made with 3mm thick colourful fluorescent acrylic that work like a typical 'suncatcher' in the bright sunshine, if placed near to a light coloured wall or floor it will cast colourful projections, but at dusk & dawn, or on overcast days, they appear to illuminate around the edges, creating a funky effect in low light. Mounted onto a strong but flexible rod, or stem, they blow around in the breeze, creating not only cool lighting & colour, but also movement.
