Tankbot is the very latest in micro-robotic desk pets. If you mated Wall-E with Eve you’d very probably come up with Tankbot. This tracked little robot manages to be both androgynous & anthropomorphic at the same time, & it’s really clever too. If only we could all have children like that (maybe not). Controlled via a free App on your iPod, i Touch, iPad, iPhone or Android phone (the Tankbot comes with an IR dongle that attaches to your device) this brilliant little robot has multiple functions as well as some rather fun noises. Multi-directional, he (or she, it’s up to you) has an Autonomous Mode, which basically means it can navigate mazes, you build a little maze for it on your desk & it’ll trundle round it, working the route out as it goes. There’s also a Random Mode that sets it free to wander about at will, & of course you can take the controls via the App on your mobile device & drive it about wherever you like. He has an internal lithium battery that charges up via a cute little flip-out USB (Universal Serial Bus) dongle thingy & we just love it to bits. It’s the first time we’ve ever seen a really cute & genuinely well designed & clever little robot that is such fun to play with. Maybe we’re just a little bit in love with Tankbot. ...
