A vigorous plant which rises in early spring, the leaves first, followed quickly by the flowers. The leaves are large & strap shaped, pale glossy green & faintly. Flower are gentle shades of buttermilk, finished with a central corona of red blotching & held on rigid stems. Its common name of Trout Lily is said to arise from the similarity of the mottled leaf markings to those of the brook trout. A lovely garden plant with unusual long, tooth-like bulbs.
