Characteristics: White standard isophthalic brushing polyester gelcoat. Designed as a white general purpose moulding gelcoat for hand layup use in GRP construction. Suitable for application by brush to give an even film, free from air & drainage with excellent whiteness & opacity. Shows excellent weathering properties. Application: Formulated to cure at temperatures > 16°C & needs only the addition of catalyst prior to use. Medium activity methylethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) is the recommended catalyst at an addition level of 2% by weight to ensure sufficient cure at room temperature. For best results it should be applied on to a clean polished mould in one layer of 375-500 pms (microns)/0.375-0.5mm or 460-610g per square metre. Where double gelcoating cannot be avoided the first layer must be applied to a minimum thickness of 375pm (microns)/0.375mm or 460g per square metre. Properties of Liquid Gel Coat: Appearance: Opaque white liquid & free from air Liquid properties: Pseudoplastic & thixotropic Gel time :100gm gelcoat, 2% MEKP @ 25°C
