Wine of huge mineral presence & fresh acidity. The name ' Graupert' means 'unkempt' or 'tangled up', & this refers to the fact these biodynamic Pinot Gris vines have been left to grow completely wild & free in accordance with the belief that nature can most often find it's own optimum dynamic balance. After numerous years this has indeed happened, & the vines produce bunches with much smaller berries giving a higher proportion of skin to juice. For the winemaker this is great news, as it means more extract, aroma & complexity. Golden in colour with a pungent honeyed nose, the wine has masses of mineral fruit weight & a creamy, almost buttery texture riding on a backbone of lively acidity.
