Product Description

Inveralmond Brewery, Perth, Scotl&. Who or What Was Blackfriar? Blackfriar is one of the 3 ancient orders of monks central to the history of Perth in Scotl&. The monastery of the Blackfriar was built in 1231 & it was there, in 1437, where James I of Scotland was assassinated by traitors. A dark brew, hardy & warming with a slightly sweet malty character balanced by a pleasant hoppiness. Blackfriar is known as a 'wee heavy'. Whilst not an international classification this term has been used in Scotland for generations to describe strong ales.
