Graham Day – legendary vocalist, guitarist & songwriter for garage/psychedelic icons, The Prisoners. Long Heralded as one of the great lost bands & influential across so many quarters, The Prisoners story is a long one & continues as an ever increasing list of contemporary acts including The Charlatans, The Stone Roses & The Inspiral Carpets cite them as influences.
Part of the ’80s Medway garage/trash Scene, they soon began to set themselves apart, with their unique sound & at the time unfashionable inclusion of a Hammond Organ in the instrumentation. Played of course by James Taylor (pre-James Taylor Quartet).
Following the demise of The Prisoners, Graham Day & Allan Crockford joined forces with Wolf Howard & later Fay Hallam, to form The Prime Movers, a rockier more progressive sound including the Earth Church LP, which was hailed by the now defunct Sounds Music Weekly as LP of the year.
The chaps later returned to their famous garage sound with the formation of The Solar Flares, some truly great LPs & live shows followed, before most recently Graham went on to form Graham Day & The Gaolers & Allan is now leading the very wonderful Galileo 7.
The new project, Graham Day & the Forefathers, featured Graham Day on Guitar / Vocals, Allan Crockford on Bass / Vocals & Wolf Howard on Drums. This project is focused on solely playing the music from the musician's past. Expect to 100% classics
