It wasn't really that long ago that backcountry free riding was the sole preserve of the bearded big mountain charger. Over the last few seasons though we've seen a seismic shift in what riders are doing in the backcountry. It's now not only big lines & steep faces but it's also about big booters & technical spins. That's all fine in itself, but the big problem is equipment. For what works in the powder is about as far away as you can get from what works for the freestyle rider. As soon as Yes introduced their ground-breaking Powder Hull technology in the 20/20, it was always a case of when, not if, that they were going to add it to the 420. What this achieves is a stunning short powder board that has a massively reduced swing-weight. Now that all sounds great in theory but how does that work in real life. Well, do one run on a 420, & it’s safe to say your world will change. This board is that good to ride! The float is effortless, & its uncanny ability to make you feel like a pro snowboarder will have you grinning from ear to ear within seconds.
