Ideal for riders who want the on piste & powder performance of a traditional freeride board, but who don't want that all or nothing performance that's generally associated with this kind of board. Built around a state of the art directional shape with directional rocker, the explorer has the credentials of a true freeride board. However, the secret to its great ride is that instead of adding a stiff tail as would be the norm, Jones fit the explorer with a softer more freestyle focussed tail. This transforms the way the board rides creating a far more rider friendly experience. Rider Style Beginner to expert riders looking for a friendlier freeride inspired board. Shape Overview The explorers directional shape has been specially engineered to create a versatile ride across the whole mountain. The innovative Blunt Nose Profile allows the nose to rise quickly in deep snow, while the Traction Tech adds multiple contact points to the sidecut ensuring that the explorer feels locked in on even the iciest terrain. However, the secret to the explorers great performance is the freestyle inspired tail. This softer flex gives the board a more playful overall ride creating a versatile freeride board that doesn't need to be pushed all the time. Profile The freeride inspired Directional Rocker combines an extended rocker zone at the nose with camber between the feet & a shorter rocker at the tail. This profile allows the board to float effortlessly in deep snow while still delivering a responsive & dynamic ride on hardpack terrain. That shorter rocker at the tail helps create a more responsive & stable feel at the back of the board while still retaining a more playful catch free ride. 3D Contour Base 1.0 The explorer features the unique Spoon-3D base. This advanced design bevels the base at the tip & tail to reduce friction at the contact points. This not only smooths out turn initiation & exit it also adds additional float while increasing the overall riding stability. Internals Heading up the explorers high-quality construction is the durable yet lightweight Classic Core. This premium poplar wood core delivers the perfect balance of performance, pop, flex & strength & is the ideal foundation for the explorers versatile ride. Now as Jones wanted to keep this board a little bit more playful, it utilises softer flexing Bi-Ax glass structural layers. These allow the board to flex both lengthwise & torsionally a little easier & are crucial to delivering that unique playful freeride feel. Base To ensure the explorer delivers optimum performance it utilises a super-fast 7000 Sintered base. Factory waxed with Wend Natural wax it provides excellent glide in all conditions.
