Built around a directional shape inspired by Never Summer's acclaimed Shaper Series, the Westbound winds back the taper to 5mm & in doing so creates the perfect balance of performance & float. Shape Overview: Tapered Directional The Westbound takes its inspiration from the highly acclaimed Shaper series, delivering a unique & intoxicating ride that combines the best riding characteristics of surf-inspired boards with the response & control of a traditionally shaped board. Built around a tapered directional shape, its combination of slightly larger nose & 5mm narrower tail delivers the perfect balance of off-piste float & on-piste carving. Complementing this innovative shape is the Vario Power Grip sidecut. Formed by combining a deeper sidecut in front of the insert packs with a shallow sidecut under the feet & a straight section in the centre, it increases pressure into the most critical parts of the edges adding control & response in all conditions. Profile: Fusion Rocker Camber Key to the Westbound's all-terrain versatility is the Shaper Series specific Fusion Rocker Camber profile. This overall rocker profile blends an extended transition area in the front of the board with traditional camber under the front foot & a more aggressive Ripsaw Camber under the back foot. This unique profile delivers effortless float in the nose, but more importantly, it adds a powerful & dynamic drive to the board, providing that trench laying piste performance. Construction Internally the Westbound doesn't hold back when it comes to construction & heading this up is the NS Super Light wood core. This lightweight core combines a custom blend of wood species to create one of the lightest & most durable cores on the market. Now to ensure that the Westbound can take maximum advantage of this high-end core, it utilises a combination of Bi-Lite fibreglass with the responsive Recluse Web carbon layup on both the upper & lower layers. This combination creates that classic progressive flex that Never Summer boards are renowned for, but on those days when you want to charge, the carbon is going to deliver all the power & control you could ever need. That smooth, progressive ride is then further enhanced with the combination of RDS 2 Dampeners & elastomeric Underfoot Stabilizers. These absorb fatigue-inducing vibrations & deliver all-day riding comfort without compromising performance. Base: Sintered This super-fast, durable sintered base has been designed specifically for high-performance boards. Just the right amount of graphite has been added making the DURASURF XT SINTe Re D 5501 BASe the fastest base in the line.
