The Sir Francis Bacon seems to have been around since the dawn of time, with each new model evolving & pushing the boundaries that define any category.  It’s a ski built to let the skier express themselves in any location or condition: slashes, carves, butters, spins in powder, park or piste. The features like the Convex shaping & 5 Cut  Sidecut provide performance & looseness at the same time, all it needs is a willing skier to explore the mountain.  Terrain Type & Ability Level Terrain Type everywhere on the mountain from park laps to piste runs & side hits, with backcountry kickers & powder slopes.  Skier Type All terrain freestyle skiers with the mentality to have fun, be creative & ski the way they want.  It’s less about ability & more about mindset.  Overview Shape 107mm in the waist with an average radius of 16m (184cm) makes for a ski that feels playful & easy to turn, with the width to float. Lots of clever features enhance this, such as the 3D Convex Tips & Tails that loosens the feel,  the early Rise that increases manoeuvrability & the early Taper which moves the contact points away from the tip & tail to reduce hooking in the turn. Add in a symmetric flex for riding forward & backward & it’s easy to see why the Sir Francis Bacon is so fun to ski. Rocker Line’s early Rise at the tip & tail increases the lift in soft snow & improves manoeuvrability. This works especially well with the 3D Convex shaping at the tip & tail which also improves the handling & float. Core Line’s Partly Cloudy core uses stringers of paulownia & maple. The paulownia is a lively, flexible wood with excellent weight to strength ratio; the maple is a dense, hardwood with excellent power transfer & stability. This combination helps keep the weight down without sacrificing performance. Construction Sidewall uses Ultra-High Density Polyethylene vertical walls over the edges to absorb vibrations & provide powerful energy transmission. Thin Tip uses a super thin core & sidewalls in the tips & tails to reduce swing weight as well as tip & tail bounce. Key Features 3D Convex Tips & Tails Developed by eric Pollard, convex contouring across the tip & tail of the ski loosen the ski feel by increasing powder snow displacement – & creating a tip & tail more inclined to plane – for an added dimension of turn shape.5 Cut Multi-Radius Sidecut Five different radiuses are blended into the ski’s sidecut. The result? A wide variety of turn shapes & an intuitive feel. Fatty Base & edge 30% thicker base & edge, 2.2mm wide & 2.5mm high steel edges, & a 1.7mm thick base dramatically increase durability & tuning life the skis.e B tester’s comments: Luke (Buying Team)  At 107mm you might think these are more suited for powder days & soft snow, however,  they are playful everywhere & still rip when you want to go fast.
