TRAVIS’S POWDe R HOUND THAT RIPS ON THe PISTe Launched last season to rave reviews, the T. Rice Orca very quickly established itself as the board to have. Hailing from Lib-Tech’s expri Me NTAL collection, this unique short & wide directional freeride board utilises state of the art design & manufacturing to deliver a truly stunning ride across a diverse range of terrain & conditions. Now as you would expect for its shape, the Orca’s off-piste performance is nothing short of outstanding. However, what sets it apart from other boards in this category is just how good it rides the rest of the mountain. Unlike its competitors, the Orca is one board you’d be happy to ride all day & every day. Thanks to its lively OP+ construction & versatile C2 Banana Technology, it’s performance both on the piste or when playing around is nothing short of miraculous. Rider Style experienced riders who are looking for that unique experience in both the pow & on the piste that you only get with short/wide boards. Shape Overview The Orca’s unique directional shape has been designed to deliver the ultimate float in powder. Sacrificing length for width & utilising a state of the art powder focussed nose & tail shape, Lib-Tech creates a board that is nimble under the feet, but thanks to that increased surface area is almost unsinkable. Now to ensure that the Orca doesn’t feel slow & cumbersome with that increased width it features a tight 7m Magne Traction sidecut. This innovative sidecut features seven strategically located edge serrations along the length. These add extra traction points to the edges ensuring that you get unrivalled edge hold & control. Profile As this board is all about versatility, Lib-Tech fit it with their C2 hybrid Rocker/ Camber profile. This places mild rocker between your feet with powerful cambers to the tips & tails. This delivers the perfect balance of power, pop & precision while enhancing float in deep pow. Also, those aggressive cambers work in perfect harmony with the Magna Traction sidecut to give a solid & confidence inspiring feeling through the turn. Internals Internally the Orca utilises Lib-Techs OP + construction headed up by the OP wood core. This combines poplar & lightweight paulownia with birch stringers parallel to the sidecut to deliver the perfect balance of pop & power with a more freestyle friendly overall feel. To this Lib Tech then add structural layers formed from a combination of tri-ax & bi-ax glass. This allows the board's designers to dial in the perfect freestyle flex through the length with a more responsive torsional flex for when you need increased control & response. Base The low maintenance environmentally friendly reconstituted eco Sublimated TNT base combines the very best features of traditional sintered & extruded bases into one low maintenance but fast sintered base.
