For 20/21 it’s all change for the Project X, by combining the revolutionary shape of the all-new Stratos with an all-new advanced Project X construction, Jones’s have created a truly stunning snowboard that is nothing short of remarkable to ride. The fully directional tapered shape with deep sidecut & full-sized tail creates a unique snowboard. Combining the float of a powder board with the edge response of a piste charger & the versatility of an all-terrain twin, the new Project X is a remarkable snowboard that completely redefines high-end snowboard performance.. Rider Style The Project X’s game-changing ride is perfect for advanced through to expert riders who are looking for the ultimate performance in any type of terrain or conditions. Shape Overview The unique hybrid shape of the Project X takes a while to get your head around, but once you do, it’s obvious how revolutionary it is. Built around a fully directional shape, it utilises Jones 3D Contour Base 3.0 spoon. This 3D profiling of the nose gives powder board levels of float without the need for a long & unwieldy nose as well as smoothing out edge to edge transitions. This innovative nose shape then runs into a 10mm tapered body with deep sidecut & full-sized tail. The deeper sidecut featuring the Traction Tech 3.0 gives the Project X lightning fast edge control & response on the piste. The full-sized tail, when ridden with a more centred stance, gives the Project X a more freestyle flavour even letting you ride switch with total confidence. Profile The freeride inspired Directional Rocker combines an extended rocker zone at the nose with camber between the feet & a shorter rocker at the tail. This profile allows the board to float effortlessly in deep snow while still delivering a responsive & dynamic ride on hardpack terrain. That shorter rocker at the tail helps create a more responsive & stable feel at the back of the board while still retaining a more playful catch-free ride.3D Contour Base 3.0 One of the key features that set the new Project X apart from other freeride boards is the innovative 3D Contour Base profile. This unique design adds an even balance of 7mm spoon at both the nose & tail running from the start of the board's rocker zone. Although this bevel doesn't look much to the naked eye, it transforms the way the board rides. Turn initiation becomes smoother & more fluid while float at the nose increases, thanks to the way the profile funnels the snow down & under the nose. Construction Although the Project X shares the same shape as the Stratos, it’s when you get to what’s inside it that things change. Heading up this ground-breaking construction is the all-new Fusion core. The new Fusion Core is Jones’s lightest wood core yet. Made mostly from paulownia it features specially positioned pockets of poplar to enhanced both durability & response. However, what sets the Project X apart from other boards is the advanced structural layers. These are formed from Jones’s all-new unique Fusion Carbon Construction. This cutting edge board lay-up process fuses together multiple layers of aerospace-grade carbon fibre with the lightweight Fusion core using as little epoxy as possible. After curing, these internal board layers are then pressed in between the base & top sheet, once again using as little epoxy as possible. By stabilising the internal layers before the final moulding stage & reducing heavy epoxy volume, Fusion Carbon construction produces the most durable & responsive snowboard you can get.
