Its blunt, extended nose & tail profile combined with the wide riding platform, tight sidecut geometry & Christensen surf camber profile deliver a board that feels alive under your feet but with that surf personality that is intoxicating to ride. Shape Overview Now the obvious starting point for The Mind expander Twin is the shape. This unique Chris Christianson penned shape takes the surf style shape of the regular Mind expander but transforms it into a playful directional twin outline. The long wide floaty nose delivers the ultimate in backcountry float. The slightly shorter yet identically wide tail still allows the board to plane quickly but still lets the board feel predictable & controllable when riding or landing switch. However, as with its directional sibling, it's the addition of the short radius sidecut with Traction Tech 3.5 sidecut that brings this board alive, transforming it from freestyle twin to high-speed carver in an instant. Profile Custom rocker/camber flex pattern designed by surf shaper Chris Christenson. The rockered tip floats the board's nose & improves maneuverability while the camber underfoot provides edge hold & response. A slightly rockered tail maintains the power & stability of a traditional board & helps keep the tail catch-free initiating turns & landing switch.3D Contour Base 3.0 The unique Contour 3.0 Spooned base is the most freeride specific of Jones's innovative 3D base profiles. Combining 7mm of spoon in both the nose & tail, which begins at the rocker points, Jones manages to deliver a smooth transition from edge to edge combined with additional lift & float in the nose. Construction Internally, Jones doesn't hold back when it comes to construction, ensuring that the Mind expander Twin lives up to its hype. Heading up its high-end build is the FSC approved Bamboo Surf Core. This lively wood core combines lightweight Paulownia with upgraded Bamboo stringers located parallel to the edges. This state of the art design powers up the sidecut while still delivering a smooth & mellow ride. Now match this with the torsionally softer bi-ax weave glass reinforced with Basalt stringers, & you have all the ingredients in place to deliver a truly remarkable ride. Base As the Mind expander Twin is all about speed, Jones fit with their all-new super-fast Sintered 8000 base. This super durable material made from Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-Pe) & carbon is easily repairable, highly wax absorbent & wicked fast.
