The original Aviator has been in the Jones collection for a fair few years, & to be honest, it seemed to get a little bit lost in the range, which is a surprise for a board that rode so well. Well, for 21/22, Jones has wholly re-engineered the Aviator &, in one fell swoop, has created one of the best all-terrain boards out there. Designed in collaboration with Jones team riders Victor De La Rue & Jimmy Goodman, this stunning snowboard is aimed at experienced riders looking for a board that can deliver exceptional performance wherever you ride. No matter if you’re charging around the mountain, hitting the trees or lapping kicker lines, the new Aviator 2.0 is going to give you all the performance you could ever need. Built around a directional twin shape & featuring a combination of traditional camber & Jones 3D Base Contour 2.0, this board delivers true all-mountain versatility. However, when you match that ride anything shape with the Aviator 2.0’s all-new state of the art construction, the magic really does happen. This board comes alive & delivers a level of pop, response & control that has to be ridden to be belived. So, to summarise, if you’re after one board that’s going to take on absolutely everything that you can throw at it, but not just take it on, destroy it, then the stunning Aviator 2.0 is the board that you need to strap to your feet. Rider Styleexperienced riders who want the balance of a freestyle board with the power & response of a big mountain charger to take on absolutely everything on the mountain. Shape Overview This Aviator 2.0 all-new state of the art blunt-tipped directional twin shape has been specially designed to deliver a responsive & dynamic ride across the whole mountain without sacrificing that balanced feel that you only get with a more freestyle focused board. To this, Jones then add their state of the art Traction Tech 3.5 sidecut, which places 3 small bumps along the edges creating additional bite points (1). These bumps work like the serrations on a bread knife, increasing edge hold without sacrificing slow speed stability. At the far ends of the sidecut, the radius is incrementally increased as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually increasing the sidecut radius towards the contact point delivers smoother turn initiation & exit as the edge tracks in & out of the snow with a less abrupt transition (2). Profile True Camber: The Aviators True Camber profile is a traditional full camber profile that offers the insane edge response of camber without the usual hang-ups. The camber radius tapers into the bevelled 3D Contour Base at the tips, which releases the edges where they like to hook & balances the pop & directional stability of camber with a looser, less-catchy feel.3D Contour Base 2.0 One of the key ingredients to the Aviator’s versatility is the innovative 3D Contour 2.0 base profile. This state of the art base shape features an even balance of 4mm spoon bevel in the nose & 4mm spoon bevel in the tail. This delivers three distinct benefits to the rider, the first of these is that it creates a smoother transition from edge to edge. Secondly it lifts those contact points clear of thesnow creating a smooth, buttery freestyle feel, & finally, it helps channel snow flow down under the board creating additional lift in the pow. Construction The Aviator 2.0 utilises some of the most advanced snowboard construction available to deliver it stunning ride. Heading up this advanced build is the state of the art Koroyd Power core. Using the high-performance Power Core as it’s starting point, Jones then add Koroyd Zones into both the tip & tail. This combination of poplar, Bamboo & Paulownia, with the featherweight Koroyd zones creates a core that is super lightweight yet powerful & durable. This is then combined with powerful structural layers which blend tri-ax glass fibre with advanced Carbon/ Innegra reinforcing & Flax/ Basalt stringers. This unique combination of materials ideally suit snowboard construction they adding strength & durability to the board while giving unrivalled shock absorption. This ensures that the new Aviator 2.0 not only delivers stunning performance, but it still feels smooth & progressive to ride. Base Underlining the Aviators high-performance credentials, is the super-fast & super tough 8000 sintered base. This high-end base material is made from Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene & Carbon. ...
