Shape Overview The Instigator utilises a versatile directional shape with 5mm of taper. This classic snowboard shape is designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the back while still giving you plenty of float, flow, & control to rip any terrain or condition. The tapered shape means the nose is wider than the tail, promoting smooth turn entry & exit, stability at speed, & enhanced deep snow floatation. Profile As the Instigator is all about that balance of performance, versatility & easy-going nature, Burton fit it with their Flat Top profile. This places a flat profile between the feet, meaning enhanced stability, better balance, & continuous edge control. The tip & tail kick up with an early rise outside the feet; this gives a reassuring catch-free ride combined with a looser, more forgiving feeling you’d expect from rocker. To help the Instigator to deliver an even more predictable & catch-free ride, Burton also adds their Cruise Control Tune. This catch-free edge tune combines with the rocker to help new riders progress, & good riders get even better. This creates Stiffer zones just outside the feet, creating a more direct energy transfer to the tip & tail while enabling a softer, smoother flex between the bindings.
