The Volkl Gotama is a regular feature in the Volkl Freeride ski range, & it’s easy to see why. A superb balance of versatility, float, power & edge hold. Full rocker profile enhanced with Carbon stringers. Just like its (even) bigger brother the Shiro, the Volkl Gotama is powered by carbon fibre for amazing rebound. It’s slightly more moderate freeride rocker profile means that despite its size it can carve up the mountain, making it a truly versatile one quiver all-mountain ski. For the true aggressive freeride skier who is looking for an all-mountain one quiver ski that can have plenty of fun on the cruise back to the bottom of the mountain. When I went to the ski range review this year & saw the Gotama (And the Mantra!) I was thinking how long these have been the mainstay of Volkl’s ski range, & for good reason, they are dependable, powerful, rewarding & bombproof. I still think the Gotama is pretty much a benchmark ski. Yes the Mantra is fantastic, but spends a lot more time on the piste, & excels there. The Shiro, amazing in deep powder, unbeatable. But the Gotama just sits there in the range wedged between these two models, with a wry grin, as it knows that it can match both skis for 80-90% of the time. & that is what makes the Volkl Gotama one of those benchmark skis that others, including its brothers, will be judged by. On the mountain, it is a dream to ski, float on tap whether in deep powder or Meribel afternoon slush, & for carvers like me there is still edge hold when required, despite the generous width. I think if you asked any of our test team, over the years, this ski has always been in their top 5, & that shows just how good it is, & we all love the new graphics too!
