For the skier who skis 1-3 weeks of the year, wanting to progress at their own pace, & needing a ski that will ski in all conditions, its spot-on. Only those craving powder will find it coming up a little short. For infrequent excursions with that light full rocker it is excellent though, & far more interactive & supportive than a traditional piste ski. I would happily have this ski in my personal collection, It feels so easy to turn, almost effortless thanks to the rocker, & eats up choppier sections of snow (Anyone who has skied the 3 Valleys think Meribel at 3pm on a sunny day!) I also like the fact that although it has a steel laminate, it is not as heavy as some of its competitors at this price point, thanks to the 3D construction giving it control without extra weight, & the lighter binding thank found on its bigger brother the RTM 80. If you are mainly a piste skier, & are progressing from an older set of piste skis or early carvers, this is a PERFECT ski to move to, as you get some rocker without feeling you have to transform your skiing style, & will find the smoother feed into & out of the turns a revelation! Like the RTM 84, the RTM 80 reinforced 3D construction channels forces to the edges. The major difference between the 84 & 80 construction is in the sidewall compared to the cap. The cap construction on the RTM 80 makes this full rocker ski more forgiving & a bit softer in the general ride characteristics yet still delivers the necessary power reserves for athletic skiers pushing their limits. One of the nice things about this ski is that it is all out performance but doesn’t have all the loud graphics you usually see on this type of ski, but still has that stand out German build quality that you can depend on. So If you are a strong skier that is all about performance but doesn’t want to shout about it then you should really be looking no further.

Thanks to Volkls Ultralight core & topsheet technologies, the Squad Prime is extremely light & nimble, which is ideal given that this board was made for spinning.
